![]() Be true to yourself to the best of your abilities.), then I would strongly recommend that you take AP instead. I am saying this because I personally used to think I did, but I have now learned that I was wrong, and I see many other people who think they do, just to turn around and say ToK is complete bullshit. I am not just saying this to sound cocky. You may think you have this, but you most likely don't. Having a deep and profound respect for pedagogy, curiosity, and intellectualism is another. That being said, if all you care about is your college application and not your actual education (Putting in the effort into getting all As so you can go to a good college is one thing. This decision is yours to make and no one else's. College credits are not the only thing that matters in the world and the decision on whether to do AP or IB is extremely personal, and no one can tell you for yourself which one is better. Ignore everyone saying to do AP just for college credits. (internal thought: “I should probably start studying for the Bio Test tommrw)Įxtra note- I think some schools may take SL credits now but I’m not 100% sure it will definitely be the experience of a lifetime (in a sense that you’ll be going through hell for two years) Anyways, the Ap program is probably a better option for you, BUT if you do choose the IB program. Through this year, I’ve made some really good friends who have very similar goals as me, and honestly w/o IB I probably wouldn’t have met some of these people. ![]() Also, (this may just be at my school) all of the IB kids here are super close w/ one and another, to the point where we are literally like family. However IMO, IB does a very good job in preparing you for college, throughout this year my time management and writing skills have gone through the roof due to the writing rigor in all my classes. Also, you get a bit more “bang for your buck” in the sense that you can get more college credits via AP, as in IB you only get college credit for HL classes (basically if you were to take 12 AP JR/Sr year you could get up to 12 credits, while in IB you would only be able to get 4 as that’s the maximum amount of HL’s you can take). Plus IB is a lot less flexible than AP when it comes to class choices, bc you are forced to take certain classes (in my case I had to take Spanish Level 4 which is a class I wasn’t prepared to take). colleges consider IB/AP to the same regard, and often IB classes have a lot more work than AP. I’ve already posted this on r/advice and I know the feedback will be super biased but I would also like to know what you guys think since you actually know the program. The acceptance to these programs are due tomorrow and I’m still split on which one to choose. Half my friends are going to one school and half are going to the other. I’ve been accepted to both programs and I’ve been having a hard time deciding which one would be best for me. I think my highest priority is what will be best on college application and the amount of work that has to be done in relation to what you got back from the course (information, college credit, study skills, time management, etc). I get high marks in all my classes without much effort but i know high school will be much more difficult and it will be testing my limits so I want to choose the one that will help me the most. So I’m in middle school and it’s a breeze. Overall the AP school is better in every aspect about being a school besides academically where it is contested by the IB program. One has the IB program and the other has the AP Capstone program. Sooo, i have the options to go to two schools for my freshman year.
